USA Visa Match

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about USA immigration. Always verify current rules at uscis.gov.

What is the fastest way to get a US green card?+

The fastest employment routes are EB-1 (extraordinary ability) and EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) — both can be self-petitioned. Immediate relatives of US citizens (spouse, parents, minor children) have no visa number wait. EB-5 investor visas offer a direct path once investment conditions are met.

How does the H-1B lottery work now?+

From February 2026, USCIS replaced the random H-1B lottery with a salary-weighted selection. Level 4 wage positions receive up to 4 entries; Level 1 receive 1. Higher-paid specialty workers now have significantly better odds. Registration still runs annually in March.

What is the EB-2 National Interest Waiver?+

NIW lets EB-2 applicants self-petition without an employer or labor certification if their work substantially benefits the United States. You must show the work has national importance, you are well-positioned to advance it, and that it benefits the US to waive the job-offer requirement.

Who qualifies for the US Diversity Visa Lottery?+

Citizens of countries with historically low immigration to the US qualify. You need either a high school diploma or equivalent, or 2 years of work experience in a qualifying occupation. Entry is free at dvprogram.state.gov during the annual registration window (usually Oct–Nov). Issuance was suspended in December 2025.

Can a US citizen sponsor a sibling?+

Yes, but under the F4 family preference category. Wait times are very long — often 10 to 20+ years depending on country of origin (Mexico, Philippines, India are particularly backlogged). Sibling-sponsored green cards are permanent, but require patience.
