You need a job offer from a UK-licensed sponsor, a role at RQF level 3 or higher, meet the minimum salary threshold (generally £38,700 as of 2025), and demonstrate B2 English. Your sponsor issues a Certificate of Sponsorship which you use when applying.

A 2-year visa (3 years for PhD holders) for recent graduates of top-ranked global universities. You do not need a job offer. Check if your university appears on the UK’s Global Universities List for your graduation year. You must have graduated within the past 5 years.
Can I bring family on a UK Skilled Worker visa?+
From July 2025, only Skilled Worker applicants in RQF level 6+ roles can sponsor dependants (spouse/partner and children). Your partner must also meet financial and English requirements. Dependants can work in the UK.
How long until I can settle in the UK?+
Most visa routes lead to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after 5 continuous years on a qualifying visa. Global Talent and some Innovator Founder holders can apply for ILR in 3 years. You must meet residence, English, and Life in the UK test requirements.
What is the Global Talent visa?+
A UK visa for leaders and emerging leaders in science, engineering, humanities, medicine, digital technology, or arts and culture. It does not require a job offer — you apply based on endorsement from the relevant UK body (Tech Nation, UKRI, Arts Council England, British Academy, or Royal Academy of Engineering).
