Overview
The Tech.Pass was launched in 2021 by the Economic Development Board (EDB) to specifically attract tech talent. It’s separate from MOM’s general pass framework and is administered by EDB. The pass is valid for 2 years (renewable) and grants extraordinary flexibility — holders can simultaneously be employees, founders, investors, directors, and advisors across multiple Singapore companies.
Eligibility Requirements
You must meet at least 2 of the following 3 criteria:
- Criterion 1 — Salary: Last drawn fixed monthly salary of at least SGD $22,500 (approximately USD $16,500) from a tech company.
- Criterion 2 — Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a leading role (C-suite, VP, director, or distinguished technical contributor) in a tech company with a valuation/market cap of at least USD $500 million, OR at least SGD $30 million in funding.
- Criterion 3 — Technical achievements: At least 5 years of experience leading development of a tech product with at least 100,000 monthly active users or at least USD $100 million in annual revenue.
Application Process
- Apply through EDB’s Tech.Pass portal.
- Submit supporting evidence: Employment history, salary documentation, company valuations, product metrics, achievements.
- EDB evaluation: 4-8 weeks.
- If approved, enter Singapore and activate your pass.

- Application fee: SGD $105
- Pass fee: SGD $225

Tech.Pass vs. ONE Pass vs. EntrePass
- Tech.Pass: Tech-specific. Requires tech leadership experience. 2-year validity. Applied through EDB.
- ONE Pass: All sectors. Requires SGD $30K/month salary or outstanding achievements. 5-year validity. Applied through MOM.
- EntrePass: For starting a business. Requires innovative business plan. 1-year validity. Stricter renewal criteria.
If you’re a senior tech leader earning SGD $30K+/month, the ONE Pass may be better (longer validity). The Tech.Pass is ideal for tech leaders who meet the experience criteria but may earn slightly below the ONE Pass salary threshold.
Tips
- Document your tech leadership meticulously. EDB wants concrete evidence — company valuations, product metrics, team sizes, revenue figures. Don’t be vague.
- Company pedigree matters. Experience at well-known tech companies (FAANG, unicorns, well-funded startups) significantly strengthens your application.
- Consider the ONE Pass as an alternative. If your salary qualifies, the ONE Pass offers 5 years vs. 2 years. Compare both before applying.
